Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how MotoReel collects, uses, stores, and protects information when you use our website and services. MotoReel is designed local-first: your media and project data are processed and stored on your own machine unless you explicitly configure external services.
What we collect
- Account information: email address, role, and authentication details needed to sign you in and identify your account.
- User-uploaded media: video, photo, and audio files you upload to MotoReel, plus derived previews, thumbnails, and rendered outputs.
- Generated/processed content: edit plans, draft corrections, captions, and other outputs created through MotoReel.
- Contact-form data: name, email, subject, and message when you use our support form.
- Instagram/Meta integration data: account identifiers, usernames, and encrypted access tokens needed to publish to Instagram on your behalf. Tokens are encrypted at rest and never exposed to the frontend.
- Payment information: when billing is enabled, payment details are handled by Stripe. MotoReel does not store full payment card numbers.
- Service/security logs: error logs, rate-limiting metadata, and audit records needed to operate and secure the service.
How we use data
- To provide, operate, and improve MotoReel features.
- To authenticate you and keep your account secure.
- To process media edits, generate Reels, and publish to Instagram when you explicitly request it.
- To respond to support requests and send automated confirmations from no-reply@motoreel.app.
- To enforce rate limits, detect abuse, and maintain service reliability.
Local-first processing
By default, raw media processing happens in the local MotoReel media engine. The website stores metadata and references to files on your local storage. You choose whether to configure cloud storage or remote processing.
Cookies and similar technologies
We use a signed session cookie to keep you signed in. These cookies are necessary for the service and are not used for advertising or cross-site tracking. See our Cookie Policy for details.
Third-party processors
- Stripe — payment processing when billing is enabled.
- Meta/Instagram — only when you connect an Instagram account for publishing.
- Cloudflare — hosting, DNS, security, and optional database connectivity services.
Data retention
We keep your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. Contact-form submissions are retained for support and record-keeping purposes unless you request deletion.
Data deletion
You can delete your account, media, projects, and generated outputs through the application settings. Deleting your account removes your user record and associated data from our systems, subject to legal retention obligations.
Children
MotoReel is not intended for users under 13 (or the minimum legal age in your jurisdiction). See our Age Policy.
Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy as the service evolves. We will post the updated policy with a new effective date.
